For Americans, Memorial Day is traditionally known as the beginning of Summer, and many people take to the outdoors to enjoy barbecuing with their friends and loved ones. While everyone enjoys a day off from work, it would benefit us all to take a moment to reflect upon what Memorial Day is all about, and why we should appreciate it for more than just prolonging our weekend.

A recent survey conducted by Military.com found that a majority of new veterans say they faced a difficult transition to civilian life, in part because of a challenging economic environment, but also because, in the case of most employers, veterans' use of military time and vocabulary is outside of conventional business practices.
